Philosophy

Since 1984, Geophysical Pursuit Inc. has supplied modern seismic data to the energy industry, providing geoscientists the clarity to drill with confidence and maximize reservoir understanding. GPI is a privately-held, debt-free company built upon core values of quality, service, and integrity. As an organization devoted to developing multi-client seismic projects, our library has grown substantially through our project development, joint ventures, and trade data.

To predict results more accurately, reduce operational risks, and accelerate returns, subsurface knowledge has never been more vital. Data quality is the core of GPI’s organizational philosophy, and with over 35 years of experience, we have reliably led companies small and large to make decisions that justify and optimize their investments.

Quality relationships are at the core of understanding your goals and delivering the data you need.

New Seismic Programs

Through GPI’s strong financial wherewithal, business flexibility, and technical expertise, GPI acquires contiguous areas of seismic data through collaborative multi-client projects that are often superior quality than single-client sponsored programs, providing more efficient use of capital. We engage contractors to record and process data on a 100% company-owned contractual basis, or through joint venture partnerships with contractors.

Partnering with GPI offers various benefits:

  1. The guidance and experience of our storied oversight and management of seismic projects through the planning, permitting, acquisition, recording, and processing stages.
  2. Being provided transparent and straightforward agreements that reduce unnecessary costs and limit exposure to unforeseen events.
  3. Having access to imaging uplift from data acquired across multiple areas of interest beyond one company’s area, reducing seams and edge effects.
  4. Future access to adjacent seismic data beyond the immediate area of interest to drive understanding of neighboring assets and fuel potential step-out growth.

Over 35 years of acquiring 2D and 3D seismic has given GPI a library that includes key oil and gas basins across the United States and Gulf of Mexico.

Values

GPI is an organization invested in its relationships. Reflected in our average employee tenure of 16 years, GPI recognizes that an organization built on an unwavering sense of ethics and integrity can accomplish far more for our clients. We have been steadfast to honor our agreements, acting on what we say and with the intended spirit of the goals and objectives of our partnership. We are only as good as our client’s satisfaction, and we see this philosophy as one that creates mutually beneficial opportunities for the future.

Philanthropy

GPI is a founding investor of the Summer of Applied Geophysical Experience (SAGE) Endowment, providing the initial endowment to the summer research program created by the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG). The program supports the furthering of geophysical knowledge and field experience for aspiring geophysicists. In addition to commitments to the SEG, GPI has been resolute in its support of local charities in areas where we do business and select universities that advance exploration geophysics.
