Project Development

Through GPI’s strong financial wherewithal, business flexibility, and technical expertise, GPI acquires contiguous areas of seismic data through collaborative multi-client projects that are often superior quality than single-client sponsored programs, providing more efficient use of capital. We engage contractors to record and process data on a 100% company-owned contractual basis, or through joint venture partnerships with contractors.

Partnering with GPI offers various benefits:

  1. The guidance and experience of our storied oversight and management of seismic projects through the planning, permitting, acquisition, recording, and processing stages.
  2. Being provided transparent and straightforward agreements that reduce unnecessary costs and limit exposure to unforeseen events.
  3. Having access to imaging uplift from data acquired across multiple areas of interest beyond one company’s area, reducing seams and edge effects.
  4. Future access to adjacent seismic data beyond the immediate area of interest to drive understanding of neighboring assets and fuel potential step-out growth.

Over 35 years of acquiring 2D and 3D seismic has given GPI a library that includes key oil and gas basins across the United States and Gulf of Mexico.

New Multiclient Seismic Acquisition

Flying Dutchman – Midland Basin (Permian Basin)

  1. Used relationships with companies and knowledge of area to generate modern 3D seismic project covering 643 square miles
  2. Incorporated best practices of several participants to achieve superior design and processing plan
  3. GPI takes great pride in our ability to avoid surface and mineral skips which degrade data value to end-users – achieved mineral imaging rights covering [95%] of the area
  4. Collaborated with DownUnder Geosolutions and participants throughout development of PrSTM and PrSDM products

Flex Trend WAZ – Gulf of Mexico

  1. GPI and SLB solicited interest in WAZ program as far north in GOM as streamers could be used
  2. Long history of partnership with SLB and predecessors (WesternGeco)

Reprocessing Projects

Flex Trend Reprocessing – Gulf of Mexico

In 2020, we completed a re-imaging “Lightning” project on a large portion of our Flex Trend 3D survey (365 blocks) in the Gulf of Mexico. Both Refraction and Reflection Full Waveform Inversion (FWI), along with Converted Wave Attenuation were utilized to produce greatly enhanced imaging via 35Hz TTI RTM and 90Hz Kirchhoff depth products

Northeast Pennsylvania

In late 2018, GPI obtained a Orthorhombic OVT Pre-Stack Time migration reprocessing on our entire 1,805 square mile NE PA 3D surveys and recently added the availability of a new TTI OVT Pre-Stack Depth migration on 1,725 square miles of the survey (Susquehanna PA Ph1 was excluded).
